St. Luke Church Launches CarePortal to Help Meet Local Needs of Children and Families

GOODHUE, MN — St. Luke Church in Goodhue, along with community members, is launching a new outreach opportunity designed to help local children and families facing real and immediate needs.

St. Luke will serve as the anchor church for CarePortal in the Goodhue/Bellechester area, providing a starting point for connecting local needs with people who are ready to help. While St. Luke is helping lead the effort, CarePortal is intended to be a community-wide opportunity. Churches, organizations, businesses, families, and individuals throughout the surrounding area are invited to be part of the effort.

Through CarePortal, St. Luke, will be connected with needs identified by local child-serving professionals and community organizations. These requests may involve practical needs such as food, clothing, household items, transportation assistance, or other resources that can make a meaningful difference for a child or family.

“CarePortal provides practical avenues for St. Luke’s friends, members, and community partners to ‘serve the least of these,’ as Jesus calls us to in Matthew 25,” said Pastor Eric Hason of St. Luke Church.

CarePortal provides a way for churches and community members to respond when a need arises, bringing people and resources together to help families experience practical support and care. Rather than simply learning about community needs, responders can choose how to help based on their time, abilities, and resources.

The initiative reflects the desire of the Goodhue/Bellechester community to live out Jesus’ call to care for our neighbors. The group’s guiding phrase for CarePortal is “See a Need. Share the Care.”

“We know there are families in our community facing challenges that may not always be visible,” said Team Leads and Community Partners Char von Knobelsdorff and Teresa Buck. “CarePortal gives us a way to come alongside them and say, ‘You’re not alone. We can help.’”

St. Luke introduced CarePortal to the congregation on 10/25/2026, sharing information about how members and others in the community can participate. Those interested in learning more or responding to future needs can sign up through https://system.careportal.org/register

Whether through a church, business, organization, family, or as an individual, people throughout the surrounding area are welcome to become part of the CarePortal effort and help respond when needs arise in our community.
