For the second year, Goodhue Living residents named their own homecoming king and queen. Duane and Marilyn Jonas were chosen for this royal honor by their peers. Coincidentally, they are a married couple.
Arriving in convertibles after the annual parade, the high school homecoming royalty were applauded by residents, all wearing purple and enjoying a beautiful morning outside. King Alexis Lopez Escalona and Queen Sophia Lodermeier placed crowns on the Jonas couple.
Duane is a retired farmer and seed corn dealer and Marilyn a teacher who spent her career at St. John’s Lutheran School. Marilyn was Sophie’s preschool teacher and attendants, Macy Voth and Hayden Holm are also former students of Mrs. Jonas.
Residents and royalty socialized until the younger set needed to return to the school for more special homecoming week activities. The newly crowned king and queen watched the livestream of the Wildcats volleyball game that afternoon.
