Goodhue City Council Meeting Minutes City Hall ~ June 25, 2025

Call to Order
Mayor Valenzuela called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.
Approve or amend Agenda
Two amendments to the agenda under New Business are as listed:
1) Lions Club Temporary Liquor License for the Chicken BBQ on August 17, 2025
2) Resolution approving the Lions Club LG230 Application to conduct off-site Gambling for the Chicken BBQ on August 17, 2025
Motion to approve amended agenda made by Nagel, seconded by Brunkhorst, motion carried 5-0-0.
Approval of Minutes
Motion to approve the June 11, 2025, work meeting minutes made by Schmit, seconded by Nagel, motion carried 5-0-0.
Consent Agenda
A motion to approve items on the consent agenda are as listed:
Approve Resolution 25-09 Accepting Donation from Goodhue County Cooperative Electric Operation Round-Up program of $500 for the pool
Approve The Corner Bar & Grille liquor license renewal
Approve the Façade program Application for The Goodhue Depot
Motion to approve the Consent Agenda was made by Nagel, seconded by Brunkhorst, motion carried 5-0-0.
Old Business
A motion to approve Resolution 25-10 City of Goodhue Expressing Interest in Joining the Goodhue Fire Truck Association was made by Brunkhorst, seconded by Nagel, motion carried 5-0-0.
New Business
Motion to approve Resolution 25-11 Approving Lions Club one- year Gambling Premises Permit was made Benda, seconded by Nagel, motion carried 5-0-0.
Motion to approve the Lions Club LG230 Application to conduct off-site Gambling for the Chicken BBQ on August 17, 2025, made by Schmit, seconded by Nagel, motion carried 5-0-0.
Motion to approve the Lions Club Temporary Liquor License for the Chicken BBQ on August 17, 2025, made by Brunkhorst, seconded by Benda, motion carried 5-0-0.
Public Comment
Comments consisted of a letter from Julie Thompson, read by Maureen Lodermeier regarding the use of the pool for water aerobics. The letter informed the council of the program’s history, past practices and hope to work something out to 2 continue the program soon. Maureen also stated personal comments advocating for the aerobics program, voiced positive attributes of the instructor and commented the article in the paper was deceptive.
Approval of Bills
A motion was made to approve the bills by Schmit, seconded by Nagel, motion carried 5-0-0.
Adjournment
A motion to adjourn the meeting was made at 6:21p.m. by Council Member Brunkhorst seconded by Schmit 5-0-0.
