Approximately 2000 people enjoyed breakfast and a beautiful day at Bombay Dairy near Kenyon on June 5th. The Wayne and Donna Lexvold family hosted the annual Breakfast on the Farm event featuring a complimentary egg bake by Fultons’ Catering. The free food, including Hannisch Bakery donuts, GoGurt yogurt tubes, bananas, milk and water, was made possible through donations from over 40 local businesses. Of course it wouldn’t be Breakfast on the Farm without softserve ice cream, cheese sticks donated by Organic Valley, and Ellsworth Co-Op Creamery making batter-fried cheese curds on-site for a steady line of guests.
Visitors to the farm could speak with Goodhue County Sherriff’s Department representatives and Goodhue County Dairy ambassadors. Watching cows being milked and trying out the Ag Cab Lab simulator were fun learning experiences. Millie the potbellied pig, young calves, a rabbit and kittens were popular in the petting zoo area and a bounce house and barrel rides kept kids entertained.
Breakfast on the Farm is organized and sponsored by the Dairy Farmers of Goodhue County along with KCUE radio who did a live broadcast from the farm. Held each year during June Dairy Month, the event spotlights the importance of dairy farming in Goodhue County and the variety of dairy products available to consumers.
